One of my friends–let’s call him Tom–sent me this photo and a recap of a recent “adventure” he and his family had at Santa Rosa Island. The day started out glorious, then the weather changed in the middle of the night, resulting in grounding, abandon ship, a complete loss of the boat, then being airlifted out by our friends at the U.S. Coast Guard.
The moral of the story is to CHECK THE WEATHER! When you’ve been out to the islands so many times it’s easy to get lazy. It’s times like this when guano can really hit the fan.
If you have any other stories or tales of adventure, we’d love to hear about ’em. And if we like what we read and see, we may just post it here for all to see…with your permission of course.
P.S.
Notice the flopper stopper wrapped around the prop. This was the final nail in the coffin.
